The Archives Association of Ontario (AAO) is pleased to announce its Call for Papers for the 2025 Annual Conference to be held virtually on *May 6-8, 2025.*
The annual AAO Conference is an opportunity for archivists, librarians, scholars, students and new graduates from across Ontario and beyond to gather and explore contemporary professional and socio-political issues affecting archives and memory repositories in the province. The aim of the conference is to broaden the knowledge and connections within the archival and cultural heritage community in Ontario and beyond, leading to new insights

For those who work with MFIPPA/Freedom of Information requests, how does your institution differentiate between a general record (MFIPPA s.14) and a personal record (MFIPPA s. 38b) when providing access to the public? In response to changes in the guidelines for the monetary appraisal of archives for cultural property status; the development of Masterclasses at the National Archival Appraisal Board and new templates for conducting panel-based appraisals; and, some more organized attempts at conducting in-house group appraisals within archival networks and larger institutions, the present is a good time to take a collective look at the practice of monetary appraisal of archives in Canada. Let’s examine the state of
