> Overview
> The Information Consultant responsible for Partnership Development and
> Acquisition will seek out, develop, nurture and maintain partnerships to
> develop content for the Canadian Health Network (CHN). The Information
> Consultant will be a member of the Resource Development Team and work
> closely with the lead staff on partnership and content development.
>
> Responsibilities
> Content Development
> * seek out Canadian health information websites; search each site by
> page, examine the full site in detail and distill the overall directions,
> philosophy and mission of the host organization
> * determine and select individual web pages which would complement the
> mandate of CHN; selection is based on the quality and presentation of the
> information, a health promotion orientation and its relevance / congruence
> with the CHN's mandate
> * conduct on-line searches and establish (work from) an inventory of
> Canadian health information websites
> * provide health information and consultation on specific content
> issues
> * ensure the acquisition, categorization, storage and dissemination of
> current, accurate and relevant information
> * develop mechanisms for maintaining the currency of health
> information and provide leadership on resource development

> Partnership Development
> * initiate partnerships with organizations by promoting
> interest/excitement in linking to CHN's website
> * negotiate linkages to websites (partial websites) with health
> information providers through their webmasters and/or lead communications
> staff
> * develop networks to respond to emerging content need and nurture
> existing network content providers
>
> Requirements
> * knowledge of health, community and consumer issues; knowledge of
> non-profit sector issues an asset
> * strong understanding of health promotion and the broader
> determinants of health
> * excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
> * proactive, self starter who displays initiative in taking on new
> projects and multi-tasking in a rapidly changing work environment
> ? ability to organize and disseminate information clearly and
> concisely
> ? ability to seek out new information quickly and efficiently
> ? experience with a networked computer system and familiarity with
> electronic mail, WWW, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
> ? ability to handle sensitive issues diplomatically and confidentially
> * sensitive to linguistic and cultural diversity
> * ability to converse in both official languages is preferred.
