Subject: Conference Proceedings
Importance: High

Hello All:

In conjunction with the upcoming conference on "Shared Responsiblity in
Population Health" we have an opportunity to publish papers associated the
proceedings and focus of the Conference.

Previously, we published a similar supplement to the Canadian Journal of
Public Health on our Dissemination Research Conference that contained 18
papers (Vol. 87, Supplement 2, 1996). This supplement has been broadly
circulated and well received.

We are negotiating publication of a similar supplement with the Canadian
Journal of Public Health and anticipate that our papers may be published in
their November-December, 1999 issue. Papers in CJPH are fairly short (2000
words total).

For the present conference, both international and Canadian speakers will
have an opportunity to submit a paper based on their presentation.

We welcome additional submissions from individuals who are involved in
relevant work in population health. Papers can highlight pertinent issues
in population health and/or describe recent or ongoing work in a particular
area. They do not to be solely data-based.

For example topics addressed in the conference will include:

- shared responsibility and intersectoral collaboration in population health
- conducting health and social impact assessments
- the meaning and implications of a population health approach for
decision-making
- measuring population health outcomes
- development and implementation of (national) health goals and objectives
- citizen participation and accountability in population health
- models for incorporating population health in decision making
- tools for acting on population health responsibilities
- health impact assessment, environmental impact assessment and population
health
- future directions, challenges and opportunities for population health in
Canada

All submitted papers will be reviewed by a working group of the conference
planning committee. Papers will be selected for inclusion in the journal
supplement.

Please contact Jim Frankish if you are interested in submitting a paper or
require further information.
