one of health promotion's great leaders - Sharon Martin.  Please share this

DIRECTOR, Community & Public Involvement

The Vancouver/Richmond Health Board is responsible for the largest spectrum
of services in western Canada, with a budget exceeding $1.6 billion per
year. The Board functions in a challenging accountability environment
dedicated to public involvement, visible accountability, policy leadership
and participatory decision making.

The Vancouver/Richmond Health Board is seeking a dynamic individual to fill
the challenging and demanding position of Director of Community & Public
Involvement.  This position provides a key leadership role within the region
as a member of the Staff Executive Team

You will be accountable for developing, refining and maintaining systems of
public advocacy within the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board.  The Public
Advisory Committees and the Regional Health Advocate are the primary
vehicles through which the accountabilities of the Director are
accomplished.  You will also be responsible for the development of processes
which engage and support the public in voluntary activities which strengthen
their communities and address their health issues.

You will have: a demonstrated belief and commitment to the importance of
community participation in public processes and public accountability as
well as to health care reform and restructuring.  Your Masters Degree in a
related discipline, supplemented with considerable progressive experience in
policy development and analysis and community development, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience will prepare you for this position.
The ability to work as a leader in a complex environment and to establish
and maintain effective working relationships with various groups within the
system and the community is essential to your success in this role.
