RESEARCH ASSISTANTS- HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN

Position Status: Part-time fixed-term (1 year with possibility of renewal)

Department: Division of Adolescent Medicine

Available: Immediately

Description of the Position: This is a three year project currently underway
in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. This project will evaluate the
effectiveness of an HIV risk reduction educational program for incarcerated
youth. The interviewer(s) are required to conduct interviews on a one to one
basis in person at various off-site locations as well as over the phone.
These positions require an extremely flexible schedule. As a member of this
project team your responsibility will be to conduct structured interviews
with young offenders (ages 12-18), at baseline, post intervention, and at 3,
6 and 12 months. You will also keep track of the youth during his/her
involvement in the research study, attend meetings, liaise with members of
the research team, staff at the external sites and the "contacts"  who youth
identify at the time of consent. Some administrative tasks are also
involved.

Qualifications: You are a mature, professional individual with current day
knowledge and/or awareness of issues affecting incarcerated youth. You
possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability
to establish clear boundaries while maintaining a high level of diplomacy
and confidentiality at all times. Strong computer skills with working
knowledge of database programs is required. Previous experience working with
young offenders is a definite asset. Applicants with related experience in
educational and/or health care settings will also be considered. Flexibility
is a must in this position in order to be able to accommodate strict study
time-lines.

Hours : To be determined

Salary: Commensurate with experience
