Wendy - the SummerActive package prepared by ParticipACTION for the 1999
campaign contained a section on identifying, recruiting and motivating
champions, especially in workplaces around physical activity but could
relate to other scenarios. I worked with my colleagues at the Health
Communication Unit at the Centre for Health Promotion at U of T in creating
this so if you are unable to locate a copy, please let me know and i may be
able to dig up a copy. Given the unfortunate demise of ParticipACTION it
won't be possible to access their archives.

Subject: Identifying Health Champions
> Hello:
>
> I am developing community based activities for use by community leaders
> and health professionals to encourage parents to eat more vegetables and
> fruits.
>
> To achieve this, we are including some tips on health promotion and
> community collaboration. One of the tools that we would like to see
> included in this manual is information or tipsheets on how to identify a
> community "champion" for a health initiative.
>
> Are you aware of any tipsheets or general information on the
> characteristics, the process for selecting and nurturing an identified
> champion? If so let me know about contacts or web pages I may use to
