SECTION MANAGER, ADULT HEALTH
Toronto, Ontario

Temporary position until March 2000 at our Yonge and St. Clair location.
The following government organization is responsible for this competitive
process: Health Canada, Health Promotion and
Programs Branch.

SALARY:
$61,803 to $69,765 per annum commensurate with qualifications (under
review).

Programs Branch advances the health of Candadians through health promotion
and prevention activities designed to reduce
health inequities and addresses the factors determining health; we are an

CHALLENGE:

     We are looking for someone to bring a fresh, new perspective and to
help shape new directions, priorities and
     initiatives while managing programs that include: youth, mid-life
issues, seniors, women's health and the delivery of the
     AIDS Community Action Program.
     The successful candidate will manage approximately ten staff located
throughout the province, providing leadership
     through a period of change and transition, promoting team development
as this new team redefines its mandate and
     strategic directions; will manage an operating and grants and
contribution budget; will negotiate, plan develop and
     evaluate national and regional policies and priorities; will provide
guidance and serve as a resource person.

EDUCATION:

     Graduation with an acceptable degree from a recognized university in
social or health sciences or a field related to the
     duties of the position, or an acceptable combination of education,
training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:

     This position requires knowledge of current and emerging health
promotion and population health concepts, trends and
     initiatives in Ontario, especially related to one or more of the
following areas: women, youth, seniors, HIV/AIDS.
     The position also requires superior communication skills, the ability
to resolve complex problems and the ability to
     manage.
     The position offers a unique opportunity to make a contribution to the
 well being of Canadians.
