Thank you.

There will be a Public Information Meeting between the City of
Saskatoon, Tamara's House and the Buena Vista Community regarding the
property, 1605- Victoria Avenue in Saskatoon, which has been purchased
by Tamara's House:

Date: Tuesday, June 13, 2000
Time: 7 p.m.
Place: Buena Vista School
Presentations by: Flo Lavallie on behalf of Tamara's House, and; the
City of Saskatoon.

We, supporters of Tamara's House, need your support to help break the
silence that perpetuates childhood sexual abuse and the need for
programs like Tamara's House. Since the purchase of the property has
been made public, there has been a [mostly anonymous] backlash from
people who do NOT want Tamara's House in 'their' community. [Emails and
phonecalls have been brought to the attention of City police.] Comments
have been made such as: the house will de-value their property; the
house will attract prostitutes, Aboriginal people and other lower class
citizens, and; the question was posed "Why not purchase property on the
Westside somewhere or out in the country?" There is an obvious need for
information.

The presentations are meant to raise awareness about Tamara's House and
the City's involvement in the process so far. Like most community-based
organizations, Tamara's House continues to struggle to survive. The hour

or two you give to come out and show your support could make a
difference.

We look forward to seeing you there.
