The Canadian Lung Association (CLA) has been working with Results Canada to
hold a breakfast news conference to mark World TB Day. The event is being
held at the National Press Club on Thursday, March 22nd, 2001 7:45 a.m., 150 Wellington Street, Ottawa, ON.
Minister Maria Minna has confirmed that she will attend and make an announcement re:
Canada's funding commitment from the G8 meeting in Okinawa. Speaking on the
panel for CLA will be Lucero and Terry Tannenbaum along with Dr. Howard
Njoo and Minister Minna. Please drop by if you happen to be in Ottawa.

Demanding Dignity: Women Confronting Economic Reforms in Africa

This book includes the findings of the 13 projects undertaken in Phase 1,
as well as a review of the literature on gender equality and economic
reform, and a postscript on the program's achievements and lessons learned.
During the book launch, Cathy Blacklock, Senior Researcher at The
North-South Institute and one of Demanding Dignity's co-editors, will make
a few introductory comments about new directions for NSI's work in the area
of Gender Equality.

Joanna Kerr, formerly the GERA Program Manager and co-editor of Demanding
Dignity, and now President of AWID, the Association for Women's Rights in
Development, will be make a few brief remarks about GERA, the results of
Phase 1 and the expectations for Phase 2.

As you may know the GERA Secretariat has moved from NSI to Third World
Network-Africa, in Accra, Ghana, where Zo Randriamaro is the GERA Program
Manager.

la litterature publiee sur la reforme economique et l'egalite des deux
sexes, et une postface fait le point sur les accomplissements et les
enseignements du programme REAGA.
