 - Cuba, Canada and Nicaragua Named to Posts on PAHO Executive Committee
Cuba was elected President of the Executive Committee of the PAHO Directing Council,
while Canada was elected vice-president and Nicaragua rapporteur of the nine-member
group.

 - Health Ministers Address Children's Health, Other Key Issues
Ministers of Health from throughout the Americas have urged improvements in children's
health, noting that "there are still unresolved issues releated to children's rights equity in
health, development opportunities, and solutions for basic health problems, as well as
emerging issues affecting child health."

 - AIDS Prevention, Comprehensive Treatment Urged by Health Ministers at PAHO
Meeting
Ministers of Health have urged all countries in the Americas to use comprehensive
approaches to prevent AIDS and offer access to treatment including antiretroviral drugs for
all people with HIV/AIDS in their countries.

 - Health Ministers Seek Improved Food Protection Programs
Ministers of Health have urged all countries in the Americas to organize food protection
programs as an essential public health function, and update and modernize their food
inspection and protection systems.

 - Managing Disasters and Complex Humanitarian Emergencies
The Center for International Health and Boston University is proud to announce its new
Certificate Program, "Managing Disasters and Complex Humanitarian Emergencies," to
be offered in Boston February 26 - May 4, 2001.
