Greetings & Happy Holidays !!

The Family Caregiver Network will be conducting an education/promotion
program for families and caregivers of someone with a serious mental
illness in the new year. As part of this project our plans are to
provide training to families/caregivers in a train-the-trainer format.
People who take this training would be required to assist in the
presentation of a community based education/support project for other
families/caregivers.

What we would like to find out is if there are any suggestions as to the
course that should be taught. It has been suggested that we use the
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill Family to Family program which is
US based (www.nami.org). This involves an intense weekend of training
(Friday at 11 am to Sunday at 3 pm with evenings required) with
provincial trainers. Has anyone on this list utilized this program or a
similar one? Are you aware of any Canadian versions?

Any comments would be welcome. We are on a tight timeline as this
project needs to be completed by March 31st.

Thanks,

Peter Jones
