Greetings.

We just completed a weekend train-the-trainer session utilizing the NAMI
Family-to-family education program. We would highly recommend this
program to families and caregivers of someone with a serious mental
illness. The resource book alone is worth taking the course for - it
contains over 400 pages of information on mental illnesses as well as
coping strategies, effective communication, empathy workshops, etc.

This weekend we trained 14 family/caregivers who will now teach this
course in the local communities for a 12 week period. Each course has a
maximum of 20 participants and people trained this weekend commit to
teaching this course twice over a 2 year peirod with a co-teacher. We
will be providing courses in the four counties in which we work. Out of
this training we will be able to teach up to 80 people / per year / per
county.

Information on the course is available at http://www.nami.org. The
trainers in Ontario are based in Ottawa. If you would like further
information, please contact me at [log in to unmask]
