Child Poverty in Canada...A national disgrace
A Campaign 2000/PhotoSensitive National Photo Exhibit:

This November, Campaign 2000 and its 85+ partner organizations from across
the country will launch a series of activities to mark the 12th anniversary
of the still unmet promise to eliminate child poverty made on Nov. 24th,
1989 by an all-party resolution of the House of Commons.

On Nov. 26th, Campaign 2000 opens a photo exhibit at the National Arts
Centre in Ottawa and Toronto and eight other locations. A new report
entitled "Family Security in Insecure Times: Tackling Canada's Social
Deficit" will be released on that day at a News Conference in Ottawa.

In Toronto, the opening of the exhibit will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday,
November 26 at the First Canadian Place Gallery, 100 King St. W. Everyone
is welcome and the show runs until December 11, 2001.
In Ottawa, the exhibit will run from November 26-28, 2001 at the National
Arts Centre

A National Photo Project Called "CHILD POVERTY IN CANADA...A National
Disgrace", the exhibit brings the every day struggles of low-income families
to public attention through black and white photography. Campaign 2000/FSA
Toronto, in partnership with PhotoSensitive -- professional photographers
who volunteer their time and talent for social causes--are working to raise
public awareness and pressure all levels of governments to take action
through sound social policy and investments.

Photo Exhibits from Coast to Coast Campaign 2000 and its partner
organizations will launch the exhibit in Charlottetown, Halifax,
Fredericton, Toronto, Barrie (Ont.), Edmonton, Vancouver, Whitehorse,
Yellowknife and Ottawa simultaneously on Nov. 26, 2001.

Beginning Nov. 24th more than a dozen newspapers from across the country
(including the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, & National Post) will feature
the photos. A postcard campaign urging the Prime Minister to invest in
children and families will be launched in conjunction with the photo project
(see our website to send an e-postcard to the Prime Minister).
