Sorry for any cross postings.

I'm posting this job for Mary Martin Rowe from the Ontario Prevention
Clearinghouse.

OPC (Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse) job opening
Stroke Prevention Project coordinator
Contract position

Project overview

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC), Community and Health
Promotion Branch has requested the Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse (OPC) to
play a role in supporting the implementation of health promotion and primary
prevention components within the Ontario Stroke Strategy. OPC is contracted
to respond to community needs for training, consultation, resource
dissemination and networking to help contribute to the enhancement of stroke
prevention activities.

OPC is a bilingual organization with a multidisciplinary focus on health
promotion, now in its 15th year as a health promotion leader in Ontario. We
support individuals and organizations in partnership with communities to
stimulate and foster health promotion, by facilitating exchange of
information, providing training and consultation, making referrals and
supporting networks.

In this project, OPC will assess needs by consulting with key stroke
prevention and care agencies (e.g. Heart and Stroke Foundation, regional
stroke care centres), agencies and coalitions involved in chronic disease
prevention (e.g. Heart Health Resource Centre, heart health coalitions,
public health units, community health centres), and Provincial staff. From
this, appropriate interventions - training, facilitation, strategy support -
will be developed and delivered to help communities, health promotion
agencies, and primary caregivers increase their capacity to effectively
incorporate stroke prevention activities into their practices.

In delivering this project, OPC will work with other health promotion
resource centres in Ontario to recommend options for supporting communities
to deliver stroke prevention activities on an ongoing basis.

Project budget is $200,000. The project time frame is immediate, with an end
date of early fall (no later than October 31, 2001). This work will involve
some travel in the province of Ontario. This is a full-time position with
salary equivalent to $50,000 per annum plus benefits.

The Coordinator will work at OPC at 180 Dundas Street West in Toronto, and
will be supported by health promotion consultants at OPC for the duration of
the project. This position reports to the Acting Executive Director of OPC.
