Course Background
The course was developed by the Initiative for Leadership Training in
Gender and Reproductive Health that trialled a Core Curriculum in
Johannesburg, South Africa, in August - September 1997. The initiative was
a direct result of the 1994 International Conference on Population and

including the content of the Cairo and Beijing agreements.
=B7 To promote a human rights approach to health care for patients, health
workers, and community health organisations.=20
=B7 To improve decision-making capacity in respect to current reproductive
health controversies by examining causes and risk factors fro a range of
reproductive health conditions across the age spectrum and the consequent
health service requirements.
=B7 To analyse health system components relative to access, attitudes,
planning, financing and decision-making in terms of successful
implementations of health care interventions.
=B7 To assess the factors facilitating and constraining policy development=
of
appropriate strategies for change in health services and practices.
=B7 To recognise bias and ethical issues in research and become skilled in
designing appropriate research tools to identify problems and evaluate
interventions.
