Announcing publication of "HOSPICAL: A Tool for Allocating Hospital
Costs" from Management Sciences for Health.
Hospital managers, policymakers, and provincial health officers can use
HOSPICAL to analyze current costs and revenue. They can also make plans to
improve a hospital's performance and enhance its sustainability. The tool
consists of a user's guide and an electronic spreadsheet file that allows
managers to allocate resource costs to individual hospital departments;
measure the performance of departments; compare revenue with costs;
compare costs among hospitals; and set cost standards based on
high-performing hospitals.
