To Alberta's Health Promotion Practitioners:

Have you registered your physical activity yet? SummerActive is less than one
month away!!

As you know, Canada's six-week physical activity promotion campaign runs May
11-June 22 and we are counting on your active participation!! As health
practitioners, please help us promote the benefits of physical activity and
consequences of inactivity. We are trying to get 1 million Canadians active
and
we need you to help encourage, organize and promote participation
opportunities.

How do you register? It is now easier than ever to register your event!
Simply
click onto the SummerActive website, www.summeractive.canoe.ca and follow the
instructions under "leader registration". Feel free to register any physical
activity events, courses, classes etc. that you are offering to your clients or

staff during the SummerActive timeframe.

Website features:

Event registration categories and participation registration;
a listing of events by province for you to check out what other Canadians are
doing and get ideas from;
contest information;
leader resources including art drawings, logos, and a leaders guide that are
all
downloadable;
downloadable public service announcements for newspaper ads, radio, and
magazines
that are geared to the five age groups;
a whole lot of other great information and activities.

Footlocker and PharmAssist National Corporate Sponsors: contact Kim Schmidt
below
for a complete listing of these stores.
 PharmAssist outlets will be displaying posters and distributing flyers
promoting
the national SummerActive campaign. Feel free to contact PharmAssist outlets
in
your community directly with a request to promote/distribute your SummerActive
information/materials/events. Footlocker outlets will have point of purchase
displays closer to the campaign. Please note that all contacts with Foot
Locker
Stores must first go through their head office. Leaders should contact Allison
Orsatti at [log in to unmask] or 416-742-3590 ext 5247, to make
arrangements
for dealing directly with the local outlet.

For more information: Contact any one of the Active Lifestyles Portfolio
organisations at http://www.health-in-action.org/new/Events/Lifestyles.shtml;
or
go to the new national website at www.summeractive.canoe.ca.

Thank you in advance for your interest and participation. Use this focused
opportunity to advocate for physical activity. Reach out and help Albertans to

decrease our physical inactivity rates. Let's show the rest of Canada that
Alberta is an active province!!
