Request for Proposals

The Best Start Resource Centre is accepting proposals from organizations or
individuals interested in providing conference coordination for a six month
period.

Background

The Best Start Resource Centre: Maternal Newborn Child Health is a key
program of the Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse and is a member of the
Ontario Health Promotion Resource System.  Best Start specializes in
maternal, newborn and child health promotion.

We promote healthy pregnancy, birth outcomes and healthy child development
by enhancing community capacity to plan and implement local health promotion
programs. We offer training, consultation and information services to
community-based health professionals including boards of health, community
health centers, health care professionals and other organizations serving
families and children.

Scope of Work

Between September 2001 and March 2002, the Resource Centre is hosting
several events on a variety of topics including:

· 4 round table sessions with key stakeholders from across the province each
on a specific issue related to healthy child development, to be scheduled
for late October / November 2001
· two day provincial conference, scheduled for January 22 & 23, 2002, for
200 participants with several keynote speakers, concurrent workshops and
exhibitors
· 3-8 regional one day workshops for a maximum of 50 participants, to be
scheduled between January - March 2002

Deliverables

· liaise with facilitators, keynote speakers and/ or workshop presenters
· coordinate venue logistics for all events, including catering, exhibit
space, registration, and audio-visuals
· coordinate the development and distribution of promotional material
· coordinate registration, including ensuring mechanisms to process
registrations, and development of registration materials
· summarize event evaluations and prepare recommendations

Timeframe

Work to be completed between September 24, 2001 and March 31, 2002


Budget for Project

The total budget for this scope of work is $10,000 - $15,000. Please note
this does not include promotional or venue related costs.

Qualifications Required:

· demonstrated conference coordination experience with both large and small
events
· excellent verbal and written communication skills
· strong organizational and time management skills
· ability to problem-solve and work independently
· demonstrated track record to meet deliverables within deadlines
· knowledge of health promotion and the Ontario Health Promotion Resource
System an asset

Some travel required.

Proposals

2. statement of your qualifications, including but not limited to the above
3. a workplan with steps, milestones, associated costs as well as a global
budget for the project
