IT'S A CELEBRATION!
Almost 100 years ago, a small group of representatives from the Western
Hemisphere gathered in Washington, D.C., to discuss their concerns about
the growing global burden of communicable diseases. Out of these meetings
grew what has become the world's oldest continuously functioning
international public health agency, the Pan American Health Organization
(PAHO). Its 100th anniversary will be marked on December 2, 2002.. As part
of the celebration, PAHO has created a special Centennial page. It will be
constantly updated, so be sure to visit often!
