Manager, Public Education

Job Opportunity:

The Osteoporosis Society of Canada works to educate, empower and support
individuals and communities in the prevention and treatment of
osteoporosis.

Position Summary:

A full-time position reporting to the Director, Programs and
Communications, responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation
of quality public education programs that meet the needs of the Society's
various audiences.

Responsibilities include:

. developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating public education
programs which support the mission and strategic directions of the Society
. identifying needs and developing effective public education materials
. working with the Society's Scientific Advisory Council to ensure programs
and materials are scientifically accurate and reflect the SAC's consensus
positions
. developing and delivering training modules for staff and volunteers in
areas such as health knowledge and educational programming
. developing partnerships with external organizations on educational
initiatives which support the Society's strategic directions and activities
. managing the Society's 1-800 French/English information line
. developing and managing budgets within the education area
. supervising program staff


Job qualifications:

. Degree in Education, Health Sciences, Health Promotion, Social Services
or related field.
. Minimum of five years experience in adult education, program development
or related field.
. Experience in multi-level, national, charitable/not-for profit
organization preferred.
. Demonstrated success in working with volunteers.
. Strong writing and presentation skills.
. Strong interpersonal and group process skills.
. Proficiency in Windows 98 and Microsoft Office.
. Well-organized self-starter who can juggle multiple tasks and discern
priorities.
. Bilingualism an asset.
