The Stroke Recovery Association of Alberta (SRAA) is a charitable
organization that offers information, communication, education, start up
assistance and support to stroke recovery groups throughout Alberta. 
The SRAA is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Provincial
Stroke Support Group Coordinator based in Calgary, Alberta, on a two year
part time contract position consisting of up to 80 hours per month to start
September 2008. 
Reporting to the President of the SRAA, responsibilities include but are not
limited to:.

.	Provide training, facilitation and communication services to SRAA
stroke support groups across Alberta to foster community re-integration for
stroke families
.	Disseminate information to and provide communications liaison among
support groups
.	Assist with the creation of up to ten new support groups in
designated communities over the two year period  
.	Plan and host two best practice workshops a year for stroke support
group leaders
.	Establish bridges with and maintain collaborations, partnerships,
and liaisons with other stroke related not for profit associations, non
governmental offices, health regions, stroke committees and agencies 
.	Provide stroke outreach and stroke presentations in the community
through education programs, material distribution, and training
.	Maintain and update the SRAA web site
.	Develop and implement the overall fund development strategy to
enable the position to grow in the future 

The successful candidate will be an independent self starter, who is able to
work effectively without daily direct supervision. You will possess
excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. You have
previous experience training and working with a diverse group of volunteers,
health care workers and the community. Previous experience working in the
non-profit sector will be considered an asset. You must have your own
transportation and be able to travel to locations in Alberta.
