Today former World Bank economist Joe Stiglitz won the Nobel prize for
economics. He was chief economist at the Bank from 1996 to 1999, when his
criticisms of World Bank policy resulted in his resignation in protest. You can
find his interesting paper, "What I learned at the World Economic Crisis" on a
spunky satirical website http://www.whirledbank.org/ourwords/stiglitz.html
