April 19, 2007

On behalf of the Ministry of Health Promotion, I invite you and your
members to be part of the test launch of the EatRight Ontario Contact
Centre, Ontario's first province-wide, telephone public information
line, connecting Ontarians directly to Registered Dietitians. This
service, part of Ontario's Action Plan for Healthy Eating and Active
Living, was developed in collaboration with Dietitians of Canada,
British Columbia Ministry of Health, with input from Public Health
Nutritionists and Dietitians and other key stakeholders to provide
consumers with evidence based and credible nutrition information,
consistent with current research.

This phone service supports the government's ongoing commitment to help
Ontarians lead healthier and more active lives, by improving access to
Registered Dietitians and giving people a place to go to find answers to
their healthy eating and nutrition questions. It is not intended to
provide therapeutic counselling or address clinical nutrition needs of
individual situations. Service will be available in both official
languages; as well other languages can be accommodated. The phone lines
are open as of April 16th, 2007 and will operate Monday to Friday from
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We invite you to involve your clients, patients,
colleagues, family and friends, to call with their nutrition questions
during the test phase. Consumers and health professionals can call and
speak to a Registered Dietitian Toll free in Ontario at

1-877-510-5102 or 416-325-0510 for local Toronto call.

This test launch provides an opportunity to test the system, with a
targeted audience, including health professionals and their
clients/patients and to make any needed enhancements before public
announcements and wide spread marketing are undertaken. We ask that you
extend this invitation to all of your members, so that the Registered
Dietitians at the contact center will receive your feedback. Later, an
official launch will introduce the service to all Ontarians.

It has been very rewarding to work collaboratively with a variety of
partners to encourage health promotion and disease prevention to all
Ontarians. Thank you again for any support you can provide in helping
to build a solid foundation of healthy eating in Ontario during this
test phase.

Yours sincerely,

Pegeen Walsh, Director
