FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HPC: A One-Stop Hub for Health Promotion Information

HALIFAX/January 24, 2012 - The Health Promotion Clearinghouse (HPC) is
pleased to announce the launch of its redesigned state-of-the-art website
featuring new content, excellent search capabilities, and thousands of links
to health promotion resources and opportunities. The new site has also
improved its online presence and networking abilities by integrating with
the latest trends in social media.

W6-hTEF-lZvEz90FgkZFH0kzWrscbhkzQ==> is a one-stop online hub for health
promotion information," says Caroline Ploem, HPC's Executive Director.
"Whether you are looking to find or to share the latest news and events, job
or volunteer opportunities, organizational links, or information on basic
health promotion concepts, this website has it all."

Ploem adds, "the website has been carefully designed to help visitors
quickly and easily access the information and resources they need to promote
health and prevent disease. It has a distinct Nova Scotia flavour, but is
clearly relevant beyond our provincial borders."

Those who were given a sneak peek prior to the launch, says Ploem, have been
impressed. Sandra Crowell, Managing Director of the Atlantic Health
Promotion Research Centre at Dalhousie University, was one of the site's
early viewers. "The redesign is impressive," says Crowell. "The sheer number
of resources available is extremely helpful to anyone wanting to access
quality health promotion information. The information is easily accessible
and up to date. The HPC deserves credit for developing such a great site."

Serving more than 50,000 people annually, HPC is a provincial non-profit
organization funded mainly by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and
Wellness. The website is only one of the various tools HPC provides in
supporting efforts to foster healthy people and healthy communities. "In
addition to our website," says Ploem, "we have staff to answer questions, a
toll-free information line, and an extensive resource library. We also
produce a twice-monthly E-Bulletin and offer an online Network which
provides access to webpages, as well as training and support for sharing
information among and across groups.
