HI Shirley In writing about the Heart Institute charging for health promotion
It is interesting to see that an institute funded by you and I would ask for
funds to conduct a program
that some might think should be open to all under our so called
comprehensive health care. I think
that this is an important erosion in our health care system. People
involved in health promotion and especially those looking
at equity in the system should respond to these examples by pointing them
out. The Canada Health Act is supposed to prohibit the charging of fees at
the point of service for medical services (but which are these). Once again
we see that the rich who would likely benefit the least from access to these
programs have access but those who might, the poor, will have reduced access
due to costs.
