Rainbow Youth Conference
Queer Community Organizing
May 10-12 2002

Coming up soon! The conference will be a weekend gathering for gay, lesbian,
bisexual, two-spirited, transgendered, questioning and otherwise queer youth
(approximately ages 15-25). Attendees will have a chance to :

LEARN about social, environmental, and queer issues through workshops and
social activities.

SHARE experiences, knowledge, fears, successes and plans for the future.

CREATE an accessible and safe environment that is free of judgement and
encourages sharing and respect.

BUILD a network of queer youth to promote solidarity and achieve common
goals.

Attendees will be treated to a packed schedule of workshops which will cover
everything from sharing stories, learning techniques for activism (including
street theatre, and silk screening), and discussions of social justice
issues - such topics as redefining gender and strategies for solidarity.
Workshops are designed to be places for sharing so they'll be
interactive and run by conference participants. There will also be lots of
opportunities for fun with everything from typical camp activities like
swimming and ropes courses, to a multimedia campfire and early morning
activities like yoga.

We're committed to making the conference accessible to everyone. The camp
buildings are wheelchair accessible, and we will provide ASL interpretation,
alternative formats or any other accommodations necessary at no extra cost.
We will also have free childcare available on-site, and are making the
registration fee sliding scale (from $35 to $120) in hopes
to allow as many people to attend as possible.
