Hello Colleen,

You may be interested in some free health indicator information for
provinces, territories and health regions available on the Internet.

Statistics Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)
have a joint "Health Indicators" project. These health indicators are
categorized under 4 headings: health status, non-medical determinants of
health, health system performance, and community and health system
characteristics.

The short route to this mine of information (English version) is:
http://www.statcan.ca/english/freepub/82-221-XIE/free.htm

If you select the latest issue, Volume 2002, No.2 (October 2002), click on
"About Health Indicators", then "Health Indicators Framework", there is a
pdf file listing all the indicators.

The longer route to this free information is: http://www.statcan.ca/
For the English version select: English, Products and Services, Free,
Health, then Health Indicators.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this
product - I hope it meets your needs for population health indicators.

Subject: Quality indicators

Hello everyone,

We are in the process of setting up our quality management committee for our
relatively new district health authority. The traditional indicators for
quality management are fairly acute care focused. Does anyone know where I
could get some quality indicators with a population health focus.

Thank you,
Colleen Cameron
