A dynamic project that aims to provide canadian youth the opportunity to
participate in the process leading to World Summit on Sustainable
Development (Rio+10) in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2002.

http://www.youth2002jeunesse.unac.org/english/YouthAgenda2002.htm#aboutyouth

The Youth Agenda 2002 project is about providing an opportunity for
individual youth and youth organizations to take an active role in Canada's
preparations to the World Summit on Sustainable Development to be held in
September of 2002 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Beyond the Summit itself,
this conference provides a unique opportunity for youth in Canada to
celebrate and advance their achievements in the area of sustainable
development.

In 2002, leaders from around the world will gather for the World Summit on
Sustainable Development to discuss the various social, cultural, economic,
and environmental issues that together, in a complex web of interlinkages,
define the world in which we live today. Since the first Earth Summit in
1992 in Rio de Janeiro, youth have played an increasingly active role in the
decision-making processes in Canada and have undertaken a wealth of
initiatives to further sustainable development in the country. Now youth are
creating and developing a coalition to prepare a Youth Agenda for World
Summit 2002.

Channel the initiatives and provide support to youth organizations and
umbrella groups working:
1) at different levels (local, provincial, national)
2) in different areas(environment, social and cultural, economic, technology
etc.)
3) with different foci (education, lobbying, policy)
