Women's Health Speakers Series Event:
Fetal Surgery as a Women’s Health Issue

Join us to hear Monica J. Casper present her book The Making of the Unborn Patient.
Firmly situating fetal surgery as a women’s health issue, Casper illustrates how
fetal surgery-both inside and outside the operating room-has contributed to new
notions
of fetuses, women, pregnancy and medicine itself. Fetal surgery is a social and
political practice with significant consequences for women’s health. She raises
ethical and political questions about access to medical intervention, the scope of
reproductive politics, and notions of maternal sacrifice.

Guest Speaker:
Monica J.Casper, Ph.D.
