INFORMATION SPECIALIST, CANADIAN HEALTH NETWORK (CHN)
"ACTIVE LIVING PROJECT"
LEISURE INFORMATION NETWORK

The CHN aims to help Canadians make more informed and better decisions about
their health through easy Internet access to reliable, relevant, credible
health information.  CHN is a nationally funded bilingual network of
existing Internet-based health information. Working with the Active Living
Project Coordinator, the Information Specialist is responsible for the
management and presentation of information on the CHN Active Living Project
Web site.  This position is located in Toronto, Ontario.

Responsibilities include:
participating in the ongoing review of the Active Living web site content
initiating information searches and retrieval to identify relevant resources
reviewing and recommending resources for inclusion on the site
cataloguing resources in the CHN database
contact with potential contributors of information
identifying gaps in content and sources for filling those gaps
providing leadership in development of resources for the Active Living topic
providing support to the network for electronic communication.

Qualified applicants will possess a master's degree in library science or
equivalent; high proficiency using the internet and Microsoft office; both
oral and written fluency in French and English.  The successful candidate
should also have excellent written and oral communication and strong
interpersonal and organization skills.  Knowledge of physical activity and /
or health issues desirable.

This is a three year contract with the possibility for renewal.  Salary is
negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.  Letter of application,
