I'm involved in a project to bring more people with mental health problems
into an existing 'exercise on prescription' scheme, and would be very
grateful for information that might help us to take this work forward. The
scheme currently involves people with mild to moderate conditions such as
anxiety, depression and stress. We are keen however to open the programme up
to people with more severe and enduring mental health problems. Has anyone
come across any guidelines on exercise for this group, for instance covering
medication issues, the most appropriate types of activity, levels of support
required etc?

We are also looking for a measure of positive mental health, to assess the
psychosocial outcomes of the scheme for all participants, that we could
combine with the GHQ which is used at present. We would therefore be very
interested to hear about tools that measure well-being from a positive
angle, e.g. assessing self-esteem, social connections etc. We are aware of
the Psychological Well-being Manifestation Scale (Masse et al) but are yet
to find out from where we can acquire this.

Many thanks,

Kate Edwards
