Family Violence: A Great Cost to Health

Family violence is an ongoing and insidious problem throughout Canada, with
serious implications for health. Alberta and British Columbia have the
highest rates in the country. Alberta has 35 women's shelters, including
three shelters on reserves, with only 24 receiving partial provincial
government funding. There is an extreme shortage of shelter, and shelters
