Health Projects Coordinator
Based in Guyana, South America
Start date: Late August - Early September (negotiable)
Contract position

Youth Challenge International (YCI) combines community development, health
promotion and conservation in adventurous projects conducted by
international volunteer teams aged 18-30 years.  Our mission is to build the
skills, experience and confidence of young people and communities to effect
positive social change.  This is achieved through a vibrant international
alliance of youth serving partner organizations from north to south.

YCI is seeking a health education outreach professional to help build upon
our current health project initiatives in Guyana, South America. This
position will work closely with the program management of a well established
HIV/AIDS education and outreach program, to expand and develop our program
initiatives in primary health education.


Responsibilities

                *       Evaluate existing health projects program at Youth
Challenge Guyana
                *       Identify feasible and effective health projects in
close collaboration with the Executive Director
                *       Design an improved health projects program in close
collaboration with Executive Director
                *       Provide leadership on rural mobile health
expeditions
                *       Nurture and develop partnerships with the Guyana
Ministry of Health, international NGO's and other partners
                *       Develop educational materials and lesson plans on
primary health for use with volunteer groups and communities


Qualifications
                *       This is a youth internship funded by Human Resources
Development Canada. In order to qualify you must be currently under- or
unemployed, under 30 years, and not have previously held an internship
position under any Federal Government programs.
                *       A post-secondary credential in nursing, public
health or health education
                *       Experience working on primary health proposals and
public health initiatives
                *       Facility working with a variety of stakeholders,
from clients to health professionals
                *       Some background in primary health education or
public health initiatives
                *       International travel or work experience is an asset.
