I am delighted to share with everyone on Click4HP health promotion
list-serv, the announcement of an exciting new position at OPC (formerly
known as Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse) for an Associate Director.

Associate Director - OPC,
   Toronto- deadline July 13, 2000

OPC (Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse) is a progressive bilingual non-profit
organization in Ontario with a multidisciplinary focus on health promotion.
The goal of OPC is to support organizations in partnerships with communities
by facilitating the dynamic exchange and sharing of information to stimulate
and foster health promotion. OPC has been a recognized leader in the field
of health promotion since 1985, providing health intermediaries with the
necessary information, resources, skills, advice and tools to support their

The Associate Director will provide leadership in all aspects of the work
for the OPC team.  They will manage and coordinate OPC services to ensure
that goals and objectives meet the health promotion needs of communities and
organizations. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director
will also work closely with other Associate Directors in OPC's affiliated
organizations to ensure alignment of priorities.

REQUIREMENTS
* Senior level management experience
* At least 5 years of experience of administration in non-profit, health
promotion, or community development
* Expertise in one or more health promotion areas
* Bilingualism an asset but not required
* Master's level credential in a related field
* Proven experience in successful conflict resolution
* Strong ability to liaise and build relationships with
community/government/funders
* Superior problem-solving skills, experienced in collaborative
decision-making
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Computer literate (MS Office, Internet/Intranet systems, Outlook)

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work with OPC team to set and achieve strategic priorities, and oversees
proposal development
* Prepare/review project plans to determine objectives, timelines, budgets,
staffing etc.
* Create and develop business opportunities to meet organizational
objectives
* Participate in senior management team decision-making for 3 organization
and their affiliates in the areas of finance, human resources, operations IT
and planning
* Develop relationships and negotiate contracts with funders and
subcontractors
* Act as key liaison with the Board of Directors
* Recruit, train, coach and effectively manage performance of team members
* As appropriate participate in the delivery of consultation, project
management and training for clients and partners
