The Steering Committee for the Northeastern Ontario Tobacco Summit is
seeking the expertise of a facilitator/consultant to support the successful
implementation of a NE Ontario Tobacco Summit May 29 to 31, 2002.
The successful candidate will bring the following qualifications and
experience:
. Demonstrated ability in both large and small group facilitation
. Experience assisting large groups with divergent views to discover common
ground and to reach consensus on action steps
. Understanding of the tobacco control issues facing the province and local
communities
. Exceptional ability in conflict resolution and negotiation
. Demonstrated success in broad based communication strategies with diverse
groups
. Experience in community development with diverse groups such as
Francophone and Aboriginal populations
. Understanding of what motivates and drives different sectors of a
community, ie. Business, hospitality, educators, politicians, health
professionals, etc.
Time Frame
Consultant/Facilitator will commence January 7, 2002 and continue until June
28, 2002.
Deliverables
The successful candidate will work with the Project Coordinator, Steering
Committee, and the appropriate sub-committees to:
. Structure the Summit in a manner that supports the development of strong
regional resolutions
. Provide support to the development and implementation of the communication
plan
. Participate in all Steering Committee meetings via teleconference or
in-person at least once per month. (In- person meetings are preferred and
take place in either North Bay or Sudbury).
. Train Community Liaison Representatives (6) to communicate, to all sectors
within each community, the importance of their participation
. Participate in all Logistics and Location Sub Committee meetings via
teleconference or in-person. (Meetings are called on an as-needed basis).
. Facilitate large and small group sessions on May 29 to 31, 2002 in North
Bay
. Provide post-conference support and direction to the Steering Committee
regarding the sustainability plan
Lowest or any proposal not necessarily accepted. The contract will be
awarded pending funding approval. Please forward your detailed proposal
