The National Office of the Canadian Cancer Society is seeking a Manager for
the Cancer Control Programs Department. The position is a full-time,
contract position to December 31, 2003.

Details are as follows...

DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS
*       Planning related to the CCS roles in taking action on priority
cancer control issues (prevention,  supportive care for people living with
cancer);  and
*       Implementation of cancer control programs (i.e., activities designed
to change lifestyle or improve quality of life).  These programs could
include self-help, one-to-one, group, or social marketing and be delivered
by volunteers and/or health professionals/educators and through the web,
telephone or in person.
*       Members of the Department work extensively in internal and external
collaborative partnerships (with CCS national and/or divisional personnel;
volunteers; and/or external groups).

PRIMARY DUTIES
*       Manage projects to support national programs.  This might involve
research, analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
*       Establish and maintain relationships with external organizations and
internal stakeholders
*       Develop and implement marketing, training and distribution plans for
national programs
*       Develop and provide expertise on the issues relating to some of the
departmental cancer control priorities (as part of the team)
*       Provide advice, as requested, to Divisions and other national staff
on program planning and evaluation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
*       Post-graduate degree and several years experience in one of the
following disciplines (or an equivalent): Health care or public health,
Health promotion and/or quality of life issues, Program planning and
evaluation, Social marketing and/or communication theory.
*       Good written and verbal communication skills
*       Good interpersonal, team-building skills
*       The ability to plan work, set priorities and meet deadlines
*       Non-smoker

Assets will be:
*       Experience in the not-for-profit sector
*       An understanding of both French and English
*       A knowledge of Windows, Word, and other communications software.
