RE: Doctoral Programs in "Health Promotion"

There are a very large number of programs in the USA that contain the term
"Health Promotion"  Careful look at their programs reveal them to be heavily
lifestyle oriented, and even bio-medical, with virtually no emphasis on
issues of community development, public policy or other aspects of the Ottawa
Charter.  Public health programs such as Berkeley and Harvard could
however, be seen as involving modern aspects of 'health promotion.' There are
a large number of more up to date programs in the UK and Western Europe,
particular programs in Scandinavia, one of which [Bergen] is taught in
English, but these may be Masters levels only.
