The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) is seeking a Project Officer for the Global Health Programs project, Strengthening Balkans Civil Society’s Voice for Public Health through Public Health Associations.
This is a one-year Ottawa-based contract position, contingent upon funding arrangements with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
Responsibilities:
# Under the direction and supervision of the Project Director/Strengthening Balkans Civil Society’s Voice for Public Health through Public Health Associations, the Project Officer shares the responsibilities with the project team to plan, implement, supervise and assess activities funded through the project to support the achievement of the project’s Expected Results. The Project Officer will work in close consultation with the Project Director and with an Ottawa-based Project Assistant.
Qualifications:
# University degree in public health or a related health or social sciences field, project management or international development
# At least 5 years’ experience with demonstrated ability in a similar position
# Experience with international development issues and the management of CIDA-funded initiatives
# Experience with organizational capacity building and strategies especially in a non-profit context
# Field experience in health programming in developing countries
# Strong analytic and writing skills, good results-based reporting skills
# Familiarity with contract and project management principles
# Knowledge of fund raising, proposal writing, business plans and/or resource generation strategies is an asset
# Ability to communicate proficiently in English; Serbian/Bosnian language capacity is an asset
# A high level of interpersonal and communications skills
# Experience with webpage content management
# Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
# This position requires a candidate with a high level of personal initiative who can work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
# The position may include some overseas travel and the candidate must have the ability and willingness to travel to the Balkans region
Salary will be based on an annual amount dependent upon qualifications and experience. CPHA is an equal opportunity employer with flexible working hours, sick leave, and generous vacation leave. Candidates invited for an interview will be responsible for their own travel to Ottawa.
