Health Promotion in South Africa is in its infancy. Recently a proposal to establish a Health Promotion Standards Generating Body (a group of people who will generate educational standards for health promotion education and training) submitted to Govt was rejected.

The reason?

Objections were received from the Public Health SGB (already established) that Health Promotion falls under the auspices of Public Health and therefore standards should be generated through the activities of a working group affiliated to the Public Health SGB.

Any comments, thoughts, notions of consequence and/or advice greatly appreciated.
