Hello,

The federal Poverty Indicator was developed decades ago. Though it's still
widely used in health studies as an indicator of social class, it has been
criticized as not reflecting accurately the amount and type of expenditures
needed to live in the contemporary US. The Washington Post article provides
background and suggests some alternative measures; it's based on the Status
Report.

a) information (e.g. about conferences or job announcements or
publications relevant to social justice & public health), and
b) substantive queries or comments directly addressing issues
relevant to social justice and public health.

to limit e-mail volume, please do not send posts directed toward a
single individual to the list at large. Instead of hitting 'reply',
