FACILITY: Fishermen's Memorial Hospital LOCATION: Lunenburg, N.S.

POSITION: PREVENTION AND HEALTH PROMOTION COORDINATOR

PROGRAM: Addiction Services TYPE: Permanent Full Time
Internal applicants must submit a current resume with their application to 
be considered for the position.

POSITION SCOPE:

Reporting to the District Manager of Addiction Services, this position is 
responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive 
range of health promotion, prevention, community education, harm reduction 
and community development programs. This position involves extensive work 
with schools, all facets of community, addiction treatment staff, with 
allied professionals, youth, numerous intersectoral partners, and with a 
variety of volunteer organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
.. Masters degree in Health Promotion, Health Education, or Community 
Psychology.
.. Professional experience in health promotion, health education, or 
community development, preferably in the
addictions field.
.. Knowledge of health promotion principles and practices.
.. Knowledge of current empirical research on effective prevention methods 
in the addictions field.
.. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant ethical principles.
.. Demonstrated high degree of interpersonal effectiveness, including 
skills in written and oral communication,
delivery of educational presentations, and group facilitation.
.. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, effective teamwork.
.. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining personal 
health and well-being, to handle multiple projects concurrently, and to 
work independently with minimal supervision.
.. Must have demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment.
.. Must have exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past 
employment.
.. Must have valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
