Minimum Requirements:
Education: Medical degree from a recognized school of medicine with
specialization in obstetrics and gynecology or family health and a
master’s degree in public health or a Ph.D. degree majoring in
maternal-
child health, reproductive health of demography with a master’s degree
in public health. Specialized courses in human reproduction,
reproductive health demography, epidemiology, and/or program
evaluation
would be an asset.
Experience: At the national level: seven years of progressive
experience in population and family health including reproductive
maternal, adolescent and child health with progressive responsibility
ranging from the levels of operation and services to those of
supervision and management. A the international level: two years of
experience in technical cooperation activities in population
reproductive, and family health; maternal, child and adolescent
health,
and human reproduction. Experience should include responsibilities in
implementing reproductive health interventions to strengthen local
health systems approaches, training, and research, as well as
cooperation with different international and bilateral agencies.
Languages: Very good knowledge of Spanish with a working knowledge of
English. Working knowledge of Portuguese or French would be an asset.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Advanced university degree to the master’s level in one of
the social sciences with a strong background in international
development and education.
Experience: At the national level: seven years of experience in
planning, managing, and monitoring projects as developmentally
oriented
activities. Work experience , including field work, particularly with
nongovernmental organizations, and knowledge of their procedures is
required. Experience in workshop design, facilitation, and training
for
NGO’s and community organizations. At the international level: two
years of experience in the design and management of development
projects, including negotiation for support from financial and
bilateral
institutions.
Skills: Expertise in the determination of effective approaches for
forming NGO-government partnerships. Ability to offer persuasive
justification for NGO programs in health. Must have excellent
writing,
communication, and negotiation skills.
Languages: Very good knowledge of English and Spanish. Knowledge of
French would be an asset.

Healthy Public Policy Development - Science, Art, or Chance?
A National Symposium on Healthy Public Policy Development in Canada
April 29/30, 1996, Ramada Hotel, Regina, Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Provincial Health Council with assistance from Health
Canada and the Prairie Region Health Promotion Research Centre, are
sponsoring a national symposium to discuss healthy public policy
development.
What processes are used to crate healthy public policy in Canada?
How do they work?
How can we be more effective in creating healthy public policies?
This symposium provides a special opportunity for you to join with
others (academics, politicians, government officials, media
professionals, and policy advocates), from across Canada to debate the
issues surrounding healthy public policy development.
Registration fee is $200 per person. Lunches for both days and the
symposium banquet are included. Participation is limited to 150.

Symposium Objectives: to allow participants to understand mechanisms
and events in human reproduction and fetal development. To understand
how factors in the environment affect reproductive outcomes. To
formulate responses to concerns about environmental issues related to
reproductive health.
Symposium fees are GST exempt. $60 (group rates are not available).
Receipts will be distributed to participants upon arrival at the
symposium. Full refund less a $25 processing fee will be offered
until

Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders
is urgently looking for a Public Health Physician for schistosomiasis
control program in Cambodia.

Terms of Reference:
Job Title: Schistosomiasis control program physician
Place with the organization: Accountable to the project coordinators
of
Kratie and Stung Treng Provinces and to collaborate closely with the
MSF
doctor in Sambo district.
Job dimension: To work within the country policy of MSF H/B/CH and
the
rules and protocols of the MoH.
Job Location: Kratie Province
Starting date of mission: ASAP
Minimum Duration of mission: 1 year
Requirements:
Training: A physician with a strong public health background or an
MPH.
Field experience: MSF field experience is expected, field experience
in
a research or epidemic control program is an advantage.
Linguistic competence: The team languages are French and English.
The
language spoken in the hospital and at the ministry of health is
French,
therefore a good knowledge of either French or English and a working
knowledge of the other is essential.
Specifications: The incumbent will be expected to work and plan
independantly and be flexible in the carrying out of the
schistosomiasis
control program.
