browser with Arabic components).
The publication was developed to support the following program and policy
goals:
- To encourage men to support women's contraceptive choices
- To increase communication between partners
- To increase the use of male methods
- To improve men's behavior for the prevention of STDs
- To address men's own reproductive health needs, and
- To encourage men to become more aware of related family issues.
This special publication contains selected articles from FHI's quarterly
bulletin, Network, and an introduction by Dr. Mahmoud Fathalla of the Assiut
University Faculty of Medicine, Egypt. Articles focus on the importance of
male participation in reproductive health, men's reproductive health needs,
how family planning affects quality of life, and contraceptive methods for
men. The information reflects findings from research done in the Middle East
as well as globally, and offers programmatic recommendations for policy
makers, health program managers and health professionals.
Printed copies of this publication have been distributed to more than 8,000
recipients in the Arab world. Limited quantities are available to health
professionals upon request.
