Hi Everyone,

Members of our Health Promotion Team are looking into the relationship
between the density of fast food outlets, liquor stores and gambling
premises and the normalisation of lifestyle-related behaviours in certain
neighbourhoods. Specifically:
* is there a greater concentration of these outlets in low income
areas
* what are the potential public health impacts of high concentrations
of such outlets

The findings will be mapped using GIS and the results may be used to
encourage local town planners to consider 'normalisation' when awarding
licences, building permits etc.

Does anyone have any/know of any research that would support this project?

Thanks for your help,

Steve Shaffelburg
