Position: Executive Director
Closing Date: July 19th, 2000

Start date: beginning of September, 2000
The Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition (OHCC) is a multi-sectoral network
of community coalitions, municipalities and provincial associations working
to improve social, environmental and economic health and well-being
throughout Ontario. The OHCC is linked to the international healthy cities /
communities movement. The OHCC operates a Central Office in Toronto and 8
home-based field offices across the province.
The OHCC seeks an exceptional individual for the position of Executive
Director. The Executive Director will provide leadership and continuity
across all aspects of the organization including planning, programming,
communications, development/fundraising, evaluation, and operations. The
Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of
Directors.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Senior level management experience
* At least 5 years of experience in non-profit administration
* Expertise in Healthy Communities and community development
* University degree in related field
* Proven experience in conflict resolution
* Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships with
community/government/funders
* Superior problem-solving skills, experienced in collaborative
decision-making
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills
* Computer literate (MS Office, Internet/Intranet)
* Bilingualism an asset but not required
* Knowledge of health promotion, health and environment issues,
community economic development are assets
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide leadership and continuity across all aspects of the
organization including planning, programming, communications,
development/fundraising, evaluation, and operations.
* Work with OHCC team to set and achieve strategic priorities and
annual workplans
* Create and develop development/fundraising opportunities to meet
organizational objectives
* Recruit, train, coach, and effectively manage performance of staff
team
* Develop relationships, co-ordinate reporting, and negotiate
contracts with funders
* Develop, track and report on organizational budget and finances
* Improve, on an on-going basis, organizational effectiveness
* Act as an advisor to the Board of Directors and as the official link
between the Board and the operating organization
