Residual stigma: Psychological distress among the formerly overweight
Pages 297-299
Becca R. Levy, Corey E. Pilver
Highlights
► The mental health of those who made the transition from a stigmatized
group to a non-stigmatized group was investigated in a U.S. sample. ► The
formerly overweight and consistently overweight groups did not
significantly differ in their anxiety and depression risk. ► The formerly
overweight group had a significantly greater risk of suicide than the
consistently overweight group. ► Psychological distress in formerly
overweight individuals deserves the attention of researchers and
clinicians.
