The Mark Twain Forum needs a reviewer for the following book:
Vaidhyanathan, Siva. _Copyrights and Copywrongs: The Rise of Intellectual
Property and How it Threatens Creativity_. NYU Press, 2001. Pp. 230.
$27.95. ISBN 0-8147-8806-8.
The review copy is a paperbound "Uncorrected Proof." Actual publication
for the book is scheduled for October 1, 2001.
Publicity material for the book reads in part:
"Vaidyanathan tracks the history of American copyright law through the 20th
century, from Mark Twain's vehement calls for copyright protection to
recent lawsuits regarding sampling in rap music and the digital controversy
personified by the rise of Napster and MP3 technology."
The book contains an Introduction; five chapters--one of which is devoted
to Mark Twain; an Epilogue; and Notes and Index.
As usual, the review must be of publishable quality, and it would be due
within two months of your receipt of the book. The deadline is particularly
important. In all fairness to publishers and authors, if you are inclined
to procrastinate, or have difficulty meeting deadlines, please do not offer
to review this book.
