Population Health In Action: One Day Conference

What is population health? What determines out health? How can we improve
the health of our community? Answers to these and other questions will be
discussed at the Population Health in Action conference. Presented by the
Population Health department of the Chinook Health Region, this one-day
conference intended for health workers, community professionals, educators,
volunteers and anyone interested in working to improve the health of their
community.

KEYNOTE Speaker, Dr. Jim Dunn (University of Calgary) will provide
information on the Population Health approach, Determinants of Health as
well as the general approach to address determinants of health.

A PANEL of local and provincial experts will answer questions regarding
their views on various aspects of Population Health and Social Determinants
of Health.

PLENARY SESSIONS in the afternoon give participants opportunities to learn
more about specific strategies and skills:
Dr. Tammy Horne (University of Alberta/Well Quest Consultants) will present
practical information on how to evaluate projects.

Dr. Michael Bopp (Four Worlds Centre for Development) will provide
information and suggestions on how to build community capacity.  Sessions
will also be provided on Social Marketing, Building Partnerships, and
Mobilizing Community Resources.

Bob Campbell (Population Health - CHR) will share his knowledge for
mobilizing community resources using the Kanadier Mennonite Project as an
example.

Stasha Donahue (Population Health - CHR) will share her knowledge of social
marketing using the South West Alberta Coalition of Poverty initiatives as
examples.

Diane Randell (City of Lethbridge - Community Development) will share her
knowledge and experiences in building partnerships through the Social
Housing in Action project example.

Conference cost is $25.00 (lunch included). Deadlines for registration is
March 5.
