Subject: HELP thought on the relationship between HP and old PH

Hi there, CLICKers!

PLEASE help?

Our Health Promotion Team is trying to come up with some concrete ideas as
to how we can work better together with the' OLD PUBLIC HEALTH'.

Our Public Health manual 'defines' public health as:

Seeking to prevent and control:
o Communicable diseases
o Chronic diseases
o Drug use and abuse
o Environmental hazards

Seeking to promote and support:
o Healthy lifestyles
o Health of specific population groups

Are you familiar with any information/documents where health promotion is
used specifically for tackling the traditional PH issues (the 4 above +
problems such as SARS, STDs, disaster management, terrorism, environmental
issues, etc.)

Also, any specific ideas on how health promotion can 'best' work with/along
the old public health would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS,

Jiri
