Poverty in the Midst of Modern Amenities 
 
"Since arriving in Uganda, I have been surprised to see luxury vehicles,
expensive restaurants, a shopping mall with a movie theater and a
bowling alley, cell phones in the hands of almost everyone, and Internet
cafes on every street corner."

Bonnie Fournier is a graduate student in the Centre for Health Promotion
Studies at the University of Alberta. She is spending more than three
months in Kampala, Uganda gathering data for her thesis research and
intends to document the contributions of local nurses in caring for
